has revealed he was pulled over by police who thought he was driving in a stolen car.
The broadcaster, 62, opened up on the shock moment on Breakfast on Wednesday, telling co-host Isabel Webster, 39, that the officers were being cautious following a spate of car thefts in the area.
But instead of being annoyed at being quizzed by police on his way to work that morning, Eamonn was grateful to them, adding: ‘It’s actually very reassuring to know the police are keeping an eye on things.’

Explaining the situation on his show, Eamonn, who has to leave for work at 4am for a 6am start, said: ‘They politely explained that there had been a high number of thefts of cars near to where I lived.
‘They thought it was a little bit unusual to see a car like mine driving around so early in the morning so they wanted to make sure everything was OK and above board.
‘We were able to speak to them and explain there was nothing untoward going on. But I am actually very grateful to the officers.They were lovely young people and if they were my children I’d be incredibly proud.’
He added: ‘It’s actually very reassuring to know the police are keeping an eye on things.’

The former This Morning presenter also shared his experience on Twitter, revealing he was ‘delighted’ to be stopped by Surrey Police.
He tweeted: ‘Pulled over by the #Police on the way into work and delighted to be so.
‘A lot of car thefts in my area and they were just checking that the car I was in wasn’t one of them… 2 young officers in their 20’s and an absolute credit to @SurreyPolice.’
It comes after Eamonn reignited his fiery feud with The Morning, claiming he wasn’t ‘treated with respect’ towards the end of his time on the show.
