Seeds are a favorite of children as they germinate. This is particularly true when seeds germinate quickly. Alfalfa is an easy-to-grow seed that should grow within one week. To see the seeds germinate, sprinkle a few alfalfa seeds on a piece of paper towel that is damp.
You’ll need:
The packet contains Alfalfa seeds (about 1.5g).
A small plate or saucer
Three pieces of paper towel
A spray mister , or a small water container
How to grow:
Lay 3 sheets of towel on a plate.
Remove the water from the plate. The paper towel must be damp however the seeds must not be floating in water.
Place the seeds in a uniform manner on the towel.
Place on a sunny windowsill and add water to prevent the towel from drying. You can use a mister or spray bottle to wet the seeds, or you can add a small amount of water to the saucer by using the smallest cup or jug.
Every day, check your seeds to check how they’re growing.
Troubleshooting

Too dry. Seeds require water to develop. Alfalfa seeds absorb around half their weight in water prior to they begin to germinate, making them appear to be swollen. If your seeds are too dry they will not sprout. In order to ensure that your seeds do not float in the water, add more to the plate. You can also soak your seeds for a few hours. Be sure to drain them and rinse them well before transferring them to a towel.
Too moist Seeds that are moist could cause their roots and shoots to rot before they can grow. The seeds can also become moldy. Too hot or cold: The best temperature for alfalfa to grow is 20-25degC. If you are growing your seeds during winter, keep them in a cool spot inside. If you’re growing your seeds in very hot temperatures, it is possible to water them more often because they’ll dry out more quickly.
