Children love watching seeds germinate. This is especially true when seeds are sprouting quickly. Alfalfa ( Medicago Sativa) is a straightforward to grow seed that can grow in about a week. Sprinkle a tiny amount of alfalfa seeds on a wet paper towel and watch them germinate and grow.
You will require:
A packet of Alfalfa seeds (about 1.5g).
A small plate or saucer
Three pieces of paper towels
a spray mister or small water Jug
How to grow:
Get 3 pieces of paper towel, then place them on top of the other on a table.
Then, drain the water out of the plate. The paper towel needs to be damp but the seeds shouldn’t be floating in water.
Sprinkle the seeds evenly onto the towel.
To prevent the paper towel drying out, put it on a sunny windowill and fill it with water. Use a mister or spray bottle to dampen the seeds or simply add a small quantity of water into the saucer with the smallest cup or jug.
Make sure to check your seeds each day to see how they’re developing.
Troubleshooting
Alfalfa seeds are easy to grow and will begin to germinate in 2-6 days. If seeds don’t sprout during this time there are a few possibilities of what could have gone wrong:
Too dry Seeds need water to grow. Alfalfa seeds absorb around 50% of their weight in water before they sprout, making them appear to be swelling. If your seeds are too dry, they will not germinate. Incorporate more water into the plate until the seeds are wet but not floating. You could also soak your seeds overnight. But be sure to drain them and rinse them thoroughly before transferring them onto a paper towel.
Too moist Seeds that are too humid may cause their roots and بذور جرجير shoots to rot before they can develop. The seeds could also turn moldy. It’s acceptable for the paper towel to get wet however the seeds should not be floating on water. Every time you mist or water seeds, remove the excess water.
Too cold or hot: The best temperature for alfalfa to grow is 20-25 degrees Celsius. If you’re cultivating your seeds in winter, put them in a cool place indoors. If you’re growing your seeds in extremely warm temperatures, you may have to water the seeds more often since they’ll dry out more quickly.
