The moment a Long Island biology teacher jabbed her son’s 17-year-old friend with a vaccine without his parents’ permission was caught on video.
Footage made public Monday shows Laura Parker Russo, 54, cleaning the unidentified teen’s skin as she prepared to administer a dose of the J&J vaccine into his right arm.
As Russo smiles, the teen can be heard saying: ‘There you go, at-home vaccine,’ in the video obtained by NBC New York.
The outlet reported the vaccine being the brand, which is only recommended for adults. She stuck the needle into the boy’s arm on New Year’s Eve, police said. The vaccine was authentic, but it is unclear how Parker Russo — who has no medical qualifications — obtained it, and cops are now investigating the matter.
Russo, a Herricks High School biology teacher according to an , was arrested and charged after the teen returned home and told his mother about the shot, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
‘The mother had not given permission or authority to have her son injected with a Covid vaccine and called police,’ a department press release said.

‘After an investigation was conducted, it was discovered that Laura Parker Russo is not a medical professional or authorized to administer vaccines and was placed under arrest without incident.’
The married mother-of-six was charged under state education law with unauthorized practice of a profession. She’s set to appear in court later this month.
Herricks Public Schools superintendent Fino Celano said in a statement that Russo has been removed from the classroom and reassigned as the case is investigated.
Russo is married to John Russo, a Sea Cliffs, New York realtor who in an online bio said the couple was raising a ‘Brady Bunch’ family.
She described in her own online blurb being a lifelong Long Island resident who ‘loves her profession as an educator.’
She’s a member of the Sea Cliff Civic Association, which organizes community events in the village 25 miles east of Manhattan.

Russo could not be reached for comment.
Mount Sinai South Nassau’s chair of medicine Dr. Aaron Glatt said the amateur injection could have had more serious consequences.
‘Besides being illegal, it’s just not a smart thing to do,’ he told NBC. ‘An authorized, licensed professional should be providing vaccines to know how to give them properly to make sure if there’s a complication that can be dealt with immediately and very efficiently.’
Nassau County police said they’re not sure how Russo obtained a vial of the vaccine, but that they’re investigating the source.

There have been several reported incidents across the country in which minors have been vaccinated without their parents’ consent.
In early December, a Los Angeles mother claimed that her 13-year-old son, who has asthma, received the vaccine shot without her knowledge, NBC reported.
Maribel Duarte said that her son returned home from the Barack Obama Global Prep Academy in South Los Angeles with a vaccination card after he accepted the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in exchange for pizza.
‘I should have been involved,’ Duarte told NBC Los Angeles.’ The lady that gave him the shot and signed the paper told my son, ‘Please don’t say anything. I don’t want to get in trouble.»

The card showed that the unidentified boy had two doses of his Pfizer vaccine, on October 28 and November 18. It is unclear when he told his mother about what had happened after the first or second shot.
‘It hurt to know he got a shot without my permission, without knowing and without signing any papers for him to get the shot,’ Duarte added.
Duarte is herself vaccinated against COVID, but said she did not want her son to receive the shot because he is asthmatic and suffers from allergies, which she fears puts him at greater risk of rare but potentially-serious side effects.
Ariana Fraser, a Florida mother, also said in December that her 5-year-old daughter was given a flu vaccination at her Lake Worth Beach school without her permission.
‘We took the band-aid off and she had an injection mark, and on the paper it says she received a vaccination for a flu shot that we didn’t approve of and the paper is not her name,’ Fraser told CBS news.
‘I was really upset and frustrated because if something bad would have happened to her, if she would have got sick,’ Fraser added.

Fraser’s daughter, a kindergartner at North Grade Elementary, had reacted badly to inoculations before, despite having all of her required vaccinations.
Health Hero, the private company that administered the vaccine at North Grade, had been accused before of giving the shot to a wrong kindergartner in Jacksonville, because his name was similar to another boy whose parents consented to the vaccine.
