Your search engine strategy must begin with links and headers that are typed into search engines. You should join Google AdWords to get an idea on what terms are searched the most in your industry. A correct SEO strategy begins with building your site naturally. Everything else that is available to you will become easier. Affiliates will come to you as your page rises. You will get link and partnership offers as your search engine ranking improves. They will come to you or at least when you go to other sites, you can show them your high ranked website.
I want to give you 5 very important on page SEO tips, note that some of these will apply to bloggers more than others, but just be creative and they can be used to boost your search engine rankings for any website.
I’m not a search engine optimization (SEO) specialist, nor do I play one on TV. However, even a new business owner who creates and updates her own websites can implement some very basic SEO strategies to make her website appear higher in the organic rankings on certain keyword searches.
As a guideline for choosing keywords, try to focus on more specific keywords in your niche. Choose keywords with less competition. This will tremendously help your website get found in search results. For example, say you’re selling shoes. «Shoes» is a general keyword that you’d have a really hard time popping up in search results for. Choose relevant keywords with less competition such as running shoes for men, women’s tennis shoes, dress shoes for prom night, sandals for the beach, kitchen clogs, children’s hiking boots, 2 inch pumps, petite high heels, etc. One thing you must be aware of is using name brands like Nike or Reebok. You could use them for organic search results, but for paid ad campaigns such as Google AdWords certain name brands are not allowed.
SEO news This is one of the most common SEO mistakes made by most people new to online marketing. They made the mistake of over stuffing their websites with keywords thinking that the more they have on their website and meta tags, the higher they will rank in the search engines. Keyword stuffing occurs if you have more than 30% of your keywords on your website. However, nothing is further from the truth. If you over stuff your website with too many keywords, search engines will treat your website as a spam site. In the worst case, your website may even be banned from the search engines entirely.
It is best practice to use the HTML tag around some keywords that are relevant to the page and that are listed in that page Meta keyword list. DO NOT use them everywhere and on every keyword as this will cause an overuse of the tags. Using it once or twice in a page or post is plenty. I recommend using the tag around a keyword that appears the most. DO NOT bold every single word i.e. if your keyword was ‘SEO Phoenix‘ and on the page you have SEO appearing 10 times, just make one bold which is enough.
11. The problems with dynamic content. Dealing with dynamic database (CMS) driven web pages can be difficult but well worth the effort. The problem with database driven sites is that they have just one page on which the data refreshes based on the query. So ideally you have just one page to optimize. Optimizing your database includes creating flat static pages from the database with page names around the keyword you want to target, and then optimize the Meta tags for the flat HTML pages. I will not go deep into the problems of database sites as it’s slightly technical and not for this post. One word of advice, hire a SEO expert who has worked with database sites before.
Avoid using your keyword too much. If you have an over optimized article, it wouldn’t matter how many articles you wrote. You would never get search engine rankings for those articles. Instead, just sprinkle your words throughout your content in a natural way. It should flow with the content and be easy to read.
