Restaurateur Jeff Ruby has delivered a special dinner to ‘s family in hospital in Cincinnati after once being treated there himself for a brain injury.

Jeff Ruby’s meal, provided by his steakhouse in Fountain Square, included 16-ounce rib-eye steaks, fresh salmon, Alaskan king crab legs, macaroni and cheese, mashed potato, creamed spinach and sourdough. 

It finished with an assortment of pastries, including Ruby’s signature butter pie, which includes cinnamon-sugared pecans, powdered sugar and caramel. 

The celebrity chef was given the idea by one of his Twitter followers — and immediately showed his enthusiasm for the idea. 

He tweeted to his 85k followers: ‘Excellent idea. Can someone help us contact the Hamlin family so we can let them know we’d like to provide them dinner at our @TheRealJeffRuby downtown steakhouse?’ 

He added: ‘I don’t know Damar Hamlin and I still wasn’t able to fall asleep last night. Just think how difficult this is for his family, friends and teammates.’

In July 1987 Ruby suffered a severe brain injury and was given a five per cent chance of survival at the UC medical center, where Hamlin remains in critical condition.

He said he wanted to help Hamlin’s family as he could relate, reported the . 

Ruby said: ‘I believe the Lord saved me to make other people’s lives better’. 

He said he would provide a free meal to the family for every night that they were in Cincinnati.

Hamlin collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrest after a collision with the Bengals’ Tee Higgins in the early stages of Monday night’s game.  

He received CPR on the pitch as his shocked teammates watched on. 

Hamlin — who is only two years out of college — was ascended to starting status this year as the Bills’ safety.  

Family revealed he suffered lung damage after being resuscitated by medics. 

Updates have been positive in the days since, with his ventilator usage reduced from 100 percent to 50 percent late on Tuesday 

Hamlin’s family was at the game when he collapsed and his mother Nina traveled with him to the hospital in the ambulance. 

A public fundraiser hit $7million two days after the incident. The family said on the page: ‘We’re simply awestruck by the level of support and generosity we’ve seen over the past two days. 

‘This fundraiser has become an overnight reminder of the incredible nature of humankind. Your actions directly reflect the type of human Damar is himself.’

‘We feel so blessed to be part of the Buffalo Bills organization and to have their support. We also want to thank Coach Taylor and the Bengals for everything they’ve done.

‘Your generosity and compassion mean the world to us. Please keep Damar in your prayers.’
