‘I just got a phone call one day from my manager and they said, «do you want to write a verse for an Ed Sheeran song?,»‘ Budjerah told on Friday.

‘I was like, «what? That’s pretty crazy,»‘ he continued.

The song, released last May, became Ed Sheeran’s hit 2Step.

‘I wrote my verse in the car straight away, zxczxcwe to the karaoke version of the track on YouTube. And they liked it.’

The version of the song featuring the Queensland singer currently has 147,000 views on YouTube.

Meanwhile, it was Mushroom Music’s Matt Gudinski, the son of late famed promoter Michael Gudinski, who suggested the teenager support Ed on his massive stadium tour Down Under after the success of 2Step.

‘I’ve never done anything this big,’ Budjerah gushed, ‘It’s stadiums, you can’t even picture that many people, you have to spin around to see them all. That’s ridiculous.’ 

Budjerah will be promoting on his new single Therapy, with fellow support act Maisie Peters.

Ed Sheeran’s + — = ÷ x Tour, also known as The Mathematics Tour will begin in Australia in Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on February 17, 18, and 19.

This will be followed by concerts in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth.

It comes after Budjerah created a sensation at the 2021 night with his heartfelt thank you speech after winning one of the night’s biggest accolades. 

After performing his debut single ‘Missing You’, the 19-year-old was announced as the recipient of the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist award. 

‘This was a lot heavier than I thought it was going to be,’ he said as he appeared taken aback.
