Union Pacific on Thursday reported adjusted earnings of $2.93 per share, beating estimates of $2.86, according to Refinitiv data. (Reporting by Nathan Gomes and Abhijith Ganapavaram in Bengaluru; Editing by Shounak Dasgupta and Anil D’Silva)

Shares of Union Pacific were down 1.7% in afternoon trade after the company cut its full-year forecast for a key profitability metric, partly due to inflationary pressures, though fuel surcharges should ease some of that impact.

One-time Coca-Cola Amatil CEO Alison Watkins was appointed to the RBA board in December 2020 for a five-year term when she was still earning $2,178,652 a year as the head of the soft-drink bottling company.

July 21 (Reuters) — Union Pacific Corp is charging customers for delayed pickup of freight from trains, its chief executive officer said on Thursday, as U.S.

railroad operators come under pressure to quickly clear containers from clogged up West Coast ports.

«If there is rationing or power cuts, and depending on whether it is a broad, European-wide impact or whether it is a country-by-country impact, Hydro would seek to produce at fewer sites or use other alternative fuels,» he said.

Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose to 11.6 billion crowns ($1.16 billion) in April-June from 6.6 billion crowns a year earlier.

Because of the ban, all nonstick cookware made in the US should be PFOA-free, but you’d be wise to make sure. Be extra cautious about buying cheap or off-brand cookware, especially if it’s not produced in a country with an active PFOA ban. PFOA is still produced elsewhere, information largely in China, and used to make consumer products.

The good news is PFOA-free nonstick cookware is cheap, so there’s no reason to risk it with anything that might contain the chemical. You can nab a 10-inch skillet from a trusted cookware brand like Tramontina two-piece nonstick cookware set for $50. Definitely worth it for peace of mind.

One downside is that nonstick cookware doesn’t impart a ton of direct surface heat hot, so you won’t be able to sear meat well and get that coveted crispy crust or seal in flavor. It’s also sensitive, and the nonstick coating will chip off and wear out over time. But the biggest worry people have when it comes to Teflon and nonstick cookware is whether or not it’s safe to use or potentially toxic.

Union Pacific — which connects West Coast ports to key terminals such as Chicago — said it was accelerating hiring of critical staff and boosting the frequency of trains by increasing their speed in an effort to clear port backlogs that are worsening supply-chain disruptions and stoking inflation.

What is Teflon, and is it safe to cook with? Teflon is a brand name for a synthetic chemical called polytetrafluoroethylene that’s used in many household products from wire coatings to fabric protectors and kitchen cookware, too. The knock on Teflon is that it’s unsafe if consumed or absorbed into the body and can increase the chances of cancer and other diseases. While studies have shown some connections (more on that below), Teflon still exists and is used to make cookware, but the safety concerns around Teflon are mostly a thing of the past.

American railroads are having a bumpy ride due to an acute labor shortage from pandemic-induced job cuts and a move to slim down operations in their pursuit of Precision Scheduled Railroading — a service model adopted by many Class I operators.

Governor Philip Lowe (left), who is paid $1,076,029 a year, is far from the only interest rate decision maker on a seven-figure salary, as average borrowers with a $600,000 mortgage face a $1,060 surge in their monthly mortgage repayments by November compared with May

Norsk Hydro benefited from higher prices for aluminium and alumina, which is used to make aluminium, saw gains from currency effects and reported higher margins in the division that makes products by extrusion, it said, although high raw material and fixed costs offset some of those gains.

In some studies, PFOA has been linked to cancer, immune deficiency and a host of other medical problems. It has also been shown to affect growth and development, and injure the liver in laboratory animals.

Australian mortgage holders are suffering through the most severe interest rate hikes in a generation because of the decisions by multi-millionaires on the Reserve Bank board who earn eye-watering salaries.
