Legendary director Mike Leigh returns to the modern world with a fierce, compassionate and often darkly humorous study of family and the thorny ties that bind us. Reunited with Leigh for the first time since her multiple Oscar nominations in Secrets and Lies, the incredible Marianne Jean-Baptiste plays Pansy, a woman torn by fear, tormented by adversity and prone to furious tirades against her husband, her son and anyone who gets in her way. Meanwhile, her easy-going younger sister, played by Michele Austin (One More Year), is a single mother whose life is as different from Pansy’s as their clashing temperaments — brimming with the shared warmth of her salon clients and daughters.
